Food

Food grants stitch­es, heal­ing you. You can gain stitch­es from 2 meals a day. A 3rd meal grants 1 com­fort. Meals must include hydra­tion. If nobody rolled Cook­ing to make the meal, it grants only 1 stitch. In dan­ger, eat­ing a meal takes 30 min­utes.

Star­va­tionSuf­fer 2 Hun­gry stress at end of day. Every meal eat­en that day avoids one of the two.

Sleep

Essen­tial for the heal­ing of body and mind.

Sleep depri­va­tionSuf­fer 1 Drowsy stress come the night. Sleep to get rid of it. While inac­tive and Drowsy, roll Per­cep­tion each hour to resist falling asleep.  

Nap­ping

A 20-minute nap allows you to apply a stitch to one Drowsy stress. No oth­er effects. You can ben­e­fit from 1 nap a day. With Drowsy stress, you risk nap­ping 1d4 hours unless you suc­ceed a Per­cep­tion roll to resist sleep.

A Good Night’s Sleep

An prop­er night’s sleep (8 hrs) pro­vides a hand­ful of stitch­es, help­ing you heal. It can also remove dis­tress.

Dur­ing a night’s sleep, you can lev­elup.
Roll for infec­tion, if wound­ed.

When you sleep, roll a d6. Add your com­fort and sub­tract your dis­tress, your malus, and oth­er penal­ties. Com­pare the result to the table below.

7 or more Restora­tive. +2 stitch­es. -2 dis­tress. Awak­en with 1 com­fort.
5–6 Rest­ful. +2 stitch­es. -2 dis­tress.
3–4 Uneasy. +1 stitch. -1 dis­tress.
1–2 Rest­less. No ben­e­fit.
neg­a­tive Mor­bid dreams. Gain or upgrade a mor­bid skill

Comfort

Earn up to 3 com­fort. Each com­fort grants +1 to sleep and expires when you wake.

The fol­low­ing give 1 com­fort each: 

  • A qual­i­ty meal
  • Good sleep­ing accom­mo­da­tions
  • Espe­cial­ly good sleep
  • Plea­sures of the flesh
  • A day of relax­ation *

You can­not glean more than 1 com­fort per indi­vid­ual source.

Rest and relax­ation cost mon­ey.

Your dai­ly expens­es depend on your cho­sen lifestyle.

You need not nec­es­sar­i­ly choose a lifestyle, opt­ing instead to man­u­al­ly make pur­chas­es, but choos­ing one can aid in bud­get­ing extend­ed down­time, espe­cial­ly for sta­bled char­ac­ters.

3 lifestyle options exist:

  • Basic: Ten­pence per day. A laborer’s liv­ing con­di­tions. Allows you a large enough food bud­get to become fed, allow­ing 1 com­fort per day. 1d6 stitch­es per day.
  • Com­fort­able: 1£ per day. A professional’s lifestyle. Makes you both well fed and well rest­ed, allow­ing 2 com­fort per day. 2d4+2 stitch­es per week. 2d4 stitch­es per day.
  • Lav­ish: £2 per day. An official’s man­ner of liv­ing. Includ­ing sump­tu­ous meals, com­fort­able beds, and dai­ly scent­ed baths. Pro­vides 3 com­fort per day. 3d4 stitch­es per day.
