Gray salt

griso­date is essen­tial in pre­vent­ing patho­gen­e­sis. If you’re human, you need two ton­ics (small or large) or meals con­tain­ing griso­date per week, or else you’re at risk of patho­gen­e­sis.

ADRENALINE
A minis­cule glass autoin­jec­tor. It plunges a dose of yel­low adren­a­line iso­lat­ed from fleeces into the blood­stream, revers­ing uncon­scious­ness, remov­ing 1 Weary stress, and caus­ing the recip­i­ent to ignore malus for 2 turns. 1-in-4 chance they they must make a ter­ror roll if they have dis­tress.

BANDAGE
A roll of clean muslin wound dress­ing. Used to stanch bleed­ing and bind wounds.

BANDAGE, STYPTIC
A ban­dage treat­ed with alum pow­der. When applied to stanch a wound, it grants +2 to resist bleed­ing, but shriv­els the flesh; the wound require +2 stitch­es to heal.

BANDAGE TIN
A stamped, square tin with thin leather straps riv­et­ed on. Pock­et space expan­sion for up to 11 XS med­ical items. Counts as a strapped item when worn.

BELLADONNA CIGARETTES
Flower-pat­terned paper roll-ups con­tain­ing the cured leaves of bel­ladon­na, stra­mo­ni­um, and lobelia. Emit light­ly flo­ral smoke which, when inhaled, elic­its an anti­spas­mod­ic, light­ly hal­lu­ci­na­to­ry effect. Dilates the pupils. When smoked, they cause 1 Smog Stress, 1 Poi­son stress, and +1 com­fort while that stress remains. Adds -1 to sleep. Smok­ing more than 3 may cause hal­lu­ci­na­tion. Coun­ter­acts tremors or coughs.

BURN SALVE
Jel­lied aloe vera. When applied to a Burn stress with 0 stitch­es, it applies 1 stitch.

CAUSTICKS
A tube of what appear to be large, sil­ver-head­ed match­es. They are sticks dipped in caus­tic sil­ver nitrate, brand­ed “Cau­sticks” by Buschmach­er Med­i­c­i­nals. Acti­vat­ed by the appli­ca­tion of water (or spit.) Used to ster­il­ize and stanch wounds. Each stick grants +2 to stop severe bleed­ing. May also remove warts.

CAUTER PATCH
A thick paper-backed cloth patch. 8 inch­es square, pack­aged in a foil enve­lope. Peel­ing away the wax paper reveals a black, sticky inte­ri­or meant for firm appli­ca­tion on bleed­ing wounds. The patch chem­i­cal­ly cau­ter­izes wounds. It dis­in­fects the area and grants an edge to resist severe bleed­ing. It also caus­es 1 Pain stress. Leaves a sooty burn and broad ashen scar where applied.

CHLOROFORM
A small brown bot­tle of anes­thet­ic, about two teaspoon’s worth. When applied to a cloth as an inhalant, it elic­its uncon­scious­ness with­in a brief time. Caus­es a lev­el 1 burn wound to the throat if the patient does­n’t suc­ceed an Immu­ni­ty roll. 

CLOT FACTOR
A short syringe with a loop flange. Con­tains a cloudy solu­tion of blood clot­ting fac­tor sourced from hog blood.  Using an action, the syringe’s con­tents may be admin­is­tered to a crea­ture, bestow­ing them with a +2 bonus against bleed­ing for an hour.

EPHEDRINE
A brown vial of ephedra and caf­feine. Pro­duces warm­ness, ener­gy, and a ten­sion in the scalp. For 2 hours, ignore 2 malus and delay hun­gry stress gain. After­wards, gain 1 Weary stress.

HEALING SALVE
A greasy salve of cal­en­du­la and orange extract. When applied to a Wound stress with 0 stitch­es, it applies 1 stitch.

HARTSHORN CAPSULE
A glass ampoule wrapped in cot­ton and enclosed in a wire cage. When snapped, using an action, it releas­es pow­er­ful ammo­nia vapors that abrupt­ly wake uncon­scious patients. 

LAUDANUM
A bit­ter tinc­ture. 11% coqueli­cot. The rest is syrup. A spoon­ful lets you ignore 1 malus, grants +1 to sleep, and inflicts -4 to Per­cep­tion rolls for 2 hours. Dos­es per day exceed­ing your Immu­ni­ty cause 1 Poi­son stress and 1 Drowsy each.

PARASKIN
A soft organ­ic swatch made from hog platelets in a foil enve­lope. Fus­es with bro­ken skin. When attached to a Burn or Wound stress, it applies 1 stitch imme­di­ate­ly. Can also act as sur­gi­cal tape. 

PEPPERELLE CIGARETTES
Stim­u­lat­ing, warm­ing roll-ups of cured, aro­mat­ic pep­perelle. Emit pes­ter­ing, dusty dox­bells. When smoked, they inflict 1 Smog Stress and cause +1 com­fort while that stress remains.

PHENOL
An anti­sep­tic solu­tion of 2% car­bol­ic acid. Used to soak ban­dages, pre­vent­ing infec­tion, albeit at the cost of mild skin irri­ta­tion. Must be used in con­junc­tion with a ban­dage. Dis­tinct tar­ry odor.

SULFA OINTMENT
A greasy, straw-col­ored paste con­tain­ing sul­fon­amide, a potent antibi­ot­ic. When smeared into a wound, it will effec­tive­ly pre­vent most infec­tion. If infec­tion is already present, it gives +2 to Immu­ni­ty rolls made to resist it.

SURGICAL TAPE
Broad strips of cloth tape with a paper back­ing. The back­ing hides a sticky side that adheres even to wet or bloody skin. When applied as part of a Stanch action, the tape acts as a pair of hands com­press­ing the wound.  Handy for use with ban­dages.

SURGICAL KIT, FIELD
A stan­dard array of scis­sors, shears, bis­touries, scalpels, hemo­stats, for­ceps, and a tra­cheal can­nu­la in a hard leatherette case. Not suit­able for ampu­ta­tions, trepan­ning, or most abdom­i­nal surgery.

SURGICAL SPIRITS
Dena­tured alco­hol and iodine. A qual­i­ty anti­sep­tic wound rinse. Unlike car­bol­ic acid, it is instant­ly effec­tive, and does­n’t require extend­ed con­tact or ban­dage sat­u­ra­tion to clean wounds. Stains skin an unnat­ur­al, bruisy jaun­diced hue.

Tonic soda
A bol­ster­ing, sug­ary, slight­ly boozy herbal decoc­tion laden with griso­date. Bot­tled in many fla­vors like hore­hound, juniper, and aniseed. Broad­ly con­sumed as a pro­phy­lac­tic. Hydrat­ing, for meals. Drink­ing 2 con­sti­tutes a dose of alco­hol

Tonic ampoule
A cloudy ampoule of griso­date brine. Max­i­mum con­cen­tra­tion. Eas­i­ly con­cealed in a pot of stew.

SOOTHING OINTMENT
A pink, oily jel­ly of coqueli­cot and men­thol. Turns the skin numb, cold, then hot. When applied, grants 1 stitch to 1 Pain stress.

Intri­cate, machined steel limbs of clock­work.
